District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar along with Director Horticulture Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today inaugurated the 2-day district level mega fruit show at KVK Malangpora here.
The event was organized by the Department of Horticulture in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture scheme with the aim to boost horticulture activities in the district.
On the occasion, stalls highlighting various varieties of fruits and other crops by the line departments for the awareness of farmers were also installed.
On the Occasion, DDC said that district Pulwama has always remained forefront in horticulture and other allied sectors. He called for taking requisite steps to tap the potential of the horticulture industry in the district and stressed on laying special focus on generating awareness among farmers to motivate them to adopt the latest technology in the sector.
Director Horticulture highlighted the role of the department in different schemes including the establishment of subsidized high-density orchards, Horticulture Machinery Equipment, bore wells and Vermi Compost units etc. He urged farmers to avail benefits from various centrally and state-sponsored schemes.
Later, a technical session was also held in which trainers shared their expertise with the farmers and gave them technical know-how about latest practices.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Programme Coordinator KVK Malangpora, Scientists, concerned officials, and a large number of farmers were present on the occasion.
