The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry Division of the district today organised a plantation drive in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School Khannabal.
Later an awareness programme on “Importance of trees and conservation of water” was also organised.
On the occasion, the speakers including Secretary DLSA Anantnag Rafia Khaki, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Social Forestry Division Anantnag Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Khannabal Mimona Abdullah, Advocate Ishtiyaq Noor Khan and students discussed about the conservation of water and importance of the trees for the sustenance of the human life.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary DLSA said that apart from planting more trees “We should learn about the conservation of water at individual level.” She stressed upon the students and other participants to learn the easy ways of saving water and using it judiciously. She added that schools and other institutions can play a vital role in providing awareness to the general public. She said that students can act as ambassadors of change in creating a pollution free environment.
