In order to promote classical music amongst the youth, the Army along with Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) organised a Sarod Recital by Ustad Partho Sarothy at Thimmayya Auditorium, Baramulla. The students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and youth of Baramulla turned up in large numbers and thoroughly enjoyed the classical concert. Many military and civil dignitaries from Baramulla also graced the occasion. Ustad Partho Sarothy interacted with the students and explained the finer points to make Indian classical music more interesting and popular amongst the younger generation. The wholehearted response of the locals for the concert is a testimony to the growing interest towards art and culture amongst the people of the Valley.
