Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Kulgam; Contraband substances recovered

January 31: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Ganderbal and Kulgam have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Ganderbal, a Police party of Police Post Shadipora headed by SI Gulzar Hussain established a checkpoint at Wakoora. During checking, a suspicious person was signalled to stop but he tried to flee from the spot. However, the alert police party chased and apprehended him tactfully. He has been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat resident of Wakoora. During search, officers were able to recover 2Kgs of cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

In Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Kulgam headed by SHO PS Kulgam established a checkpoint at Bolsoo Chowk. During checking, four suspicious persons were signalled to stop but they tried to flee from the spot. However, the alert police party chased and apprehended one among them tactfully. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Lone resident of Hanger Behibagh. During search, officers were able to recover 800gms of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused persons who managed to escape from the spot have been identified as Nafees Ahmad Dar resident of Brazloo, Shahid Ahmad Bhat resident of Brazloo and Subzar Ahmad Bhat resident of Tarigam & efforts are on to effect their arrest.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 10/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

In a similarly action, a police party of Police Station Yaripora headed by SHO PS Yaripora established a checkpoint at Yaripora Bridge. During checking, officers intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number PB07T-1388 with one person onboard. He has been identified as Sardar Singh resident of Hoshiyarpur Punjab. During search, officers were able to recover 05Kgs of poppy straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Case FIR No. 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Yaripora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Ganderbal Police hosts farewell function for superannuating officers

January 31: Ganderbal police hosted an impressive farewell function at District Police Lines Ganderbal to bid adieu to the officers who superannuated from their active services.

ASP Ganderbal Shri Feroz Yehya-JKPS along and other officers, officials participated in the function. The relatives of the superannuated officers Sub-Inspector Rattan Lal and ASI Showkat Ahmad also took part in the event.

ASP Ganderbal while acknowledging the contribution of the outgoing officers conveyed his best wishes to the retiring officers and prayed for their good health and success post retirement.

The superannuated officers also spoke on the occasion, shared their experience in the department and thanked ASP Ganderbal and other officers & officials for organising the farewell party.
