BARAMULLA, APRIL 05: The District Administration has provided essential commodities in a hassle free manner to the needy, in the wake the prevailing circumstances that have emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak, been distributed in successive stages among several beneficiaries both local destitute families as well as non local labours.Elaborating, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) said that in phase-I around 500 ration packets were distributed among 2300 non-local labours and in phase -II free ration was distributed among 500 local destitute families, identified by the local community representatives across the district. While in phase-III, 2300 non locals were accommodated in government established shelters and are being provided free rations on daily basis. The DC further informed that two months’ advance ration will be distributed among the people up to 25th of April.Besides, free ration of 5 kg per person, per month, will be distributed among 6.13 lac souls belonging to AAY and PHH households for successive three months.The DC said that the district administration is scaling up the process of free distribution of essentials to those not having access under prevailing circumstances. He added that every effort is being made to streamline the process of essential commodities distribution at the people’s door steps through a mechanism, already in place.He appealed people to stay safe at their homes so that the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic is mitigated.
