Police arrests drug peddler in Sopore, contraband substance recovered

August 31: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A Police party led by incharge Police Post Warpora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore at a checkpoint established at Jahangir Colony Warpora Sopore intercepted a person in a suspicious manner. During search, 12grms of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Para son of Muhammad Maqbool Para resident of Adipora Sopore. Srinagar, 31 August 2022.  On 31 Aug 22, 114 Helicopter Unit received a call for casevac from Nimaling Camp near Markha Valley. Atar Kahana, an Israeli national, was suffering from high altitude sickness, including vomiting and low oxygen saturation.  Leading from the front, the Flt Cdr 114 HU, Wg Cdr Ashish Kapoor and Flt Lt Rhythm Mehra as No. 1 and Sqn Ldr Neha Singh and Sqn Ldr Ajinkya Kher as No 2, got airborne within minutes, for this time critical mission. Following the Shortest Route the Casevac aircrafts reached the spot within 20 minutes of flying time and spotted the casualty on the Gongmaru La pass at an elevation of 16800 feet.
